Boulo is recruiting for an experienced Business Development Officer for our client, a growing arm of a prominent south-east based bank, headquartered in Birmingham, AL. This position is working directly in the invoice factoring division of the bank, which is committed to providing small and midsized businesses a bank-backed factoring solution that prioritizes transparency, dependability, and customer service. Employment Type: Full-Time
Flexibility: Remote or Hybrid
Pay: $40,000 – $80,000 for first year. Stabilized at approx. $150K after year 3.
Benefits: Medical, 401(k), Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability, Short-Term Disability and Paid Time Off
Pre-employment Testing: Clear background check and credit check (minimum score of 650 due to underwriting regulations)

Responsibilities of the Business Development Officer position 

  • Responding to inbound sales leads
  • Conducting outbound sales calls to business owners in select “high-fit” industries
  • Developing a network of intermediaries and “centers of influence” to drive incremental lead flow
  • Teaching the customer how factoring works, and more importantly, how to determine if factoring fits their needs
  • Tailoring the conversation based on prospect industry to properly demonstrate value
  • Maintaining accurate data and sales progress in CRM (salesforce)
  • Collecting required underwriting documentation for credit review and deal structuring
  • Presenting financing proposals
  • Preparing credit memos for credit committee approval
  • Managing the closing call alongside credit and operations support

 Requirements for the Business Development Officer position: 

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of direct sales experience
  • Are comfortable in a primarily phone-based (inside) sales role
  • Enjoy managing a larger, higher volume/smaller ticket sales pipeline
  • Have strong written communication skills
  • Have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business or Finance-related fields, but not necessary if prior sales experience is B2B related)

Priority consideration given to candidates with previous experience in invoice factoring, cold calling and credit memo writing. This position can be remote for the right, well-qualified candidate, or a hybrid position in Birmingham, AL.
