Director of IT
Location: Birmingham, AL (In-office with occasional field visits)
Compensation: $100,000 $150,000

A rapidly growing company specializing in mobile fleet fueling solutions is seeking a Director of Technology to oversee all technical systems across their operations. This in-office role includes occasional field work at their Birmingham yard and other locations, to maintain and support the hardware and technology. You’ll manage everything from backend development and embedded truck systems to mobile app integration and AI-driven tool implementation. They are seeking someone who can lead the integration of AI-powered solutions into workflow, enhancing logistics and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in C#, Terraform, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Familiarity with MongoDB and real-time data management
- Experience with Raspberry Pi, MQTT, and cellular modems
- Comfortable working with Swift/iOS environments
- Comfort with AI tools and openness to tech innovation
- A strong systems mindset with the ability to manage both software and hardware in tandem
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Responsibilities:
- AI Tools & Data Intelligence – Lead AI integration projects, Utilize and implement Model Context Protocol (MCP), Use AI for Forecasting (gallons, margins, demand), Route optimization, Anomaly detection, Preventative maintenance
- Fleet Systems & Telematics – Manage and support Raspberry Pi units controlling fuel dispensing systems, Oversee and troubleshoot telematics systems in vehicles
- Develop and manage APIs, data pipelines, and internal tools
- iPhone App Support – Support Swift-based iOS app used by field personnel
- Maintain clean data flow between the app, backend, and fueling systems
