Boulo is helping our client, a high-end residential construction firm in Homewood, as they search for an Interior Architect to join their team. They are a quickly growing full-service firm comprised of an in-house design team, licensed contractors and a custom fabrication studio. By sharing a single-minded passion for working with new and historic homes, their work is founded on establishing a harmony between contemporary ambitions and longstanding traditions.

Pay: $85,000 – $100,000

Responsibilities of the Interior Architect:

  • Client Consultation – Meet with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budget for their residential project; Provide professional advice on design concepts, space planning, and architectural styles collaborating with Team.
  • Design Development – Create conceptual designs for residential buildings, ensuring they meet both aesthetic and functional requirements; Develop floor plans, cabinetry and millwork elevations, electrical plans and 3D models using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit).
  • Site Analysis – Conduct site visits to assess the physical characteristics and constraints of the property; Ensure the design complies with zoning laws, local building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Building Code Compliance – Ensure that all designs meet local building codes, health and safety regulations, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Collaboration with Contractors – Work closely with general Project Manager to ensure that designs are translated accurately during construction; Review construction progress and make adjustments to plans as needed.
  • Project Management – Manage the timeline and budget for the project; Coordinate the preparation of construction documents and permits; Communicate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Sustainability Considerations – Incorporate sustainable design principles, such as energy-efficient materials and eco-friendly building techniques, where possible.
  • Interior Layout and Design – Develop interior layouts and help select finishes, fixtures, and furnishings that complement the overall design vision
  • Problem-Solving – Address design challenges and make adjustments to ensure practicality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Presentation – Present design concepts to clients and stakeholders using visuals like sketches, renderings, and presentations; Make revisions based on client feedback and approval.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A professional degree in architecture (e.g., Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Architecture).
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainable design practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients and contractors.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple aspects of design and construction.
  • A portfolio showcasing residential design experience is often required.

Work Environment:

  • Often works in an office setting, but regular site visits to construction locations are necessary.
  • Interaction with clients, contractors, and design teams is frequent.
  • May work independently or as part of a small firm, depending on the project's scale.
