ABOUT THE JOB
The ideal candidate is one who is interested in furthering a career in Quality Assurance. Experience in manufacturing and the food industry would be beneficial. The candidate should be a person of strong character and integrity, possess strong communication skills, be detail oriented, and work well in a team-based environment.
Under the direction of the Director of Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the ongoing preparation, review and organization of all QA and Food Safety documentation and records for the site including, but not limited to, SOP's, forms, logbooks, protocols and training documents. In addition, the QA Specialist, Document Control will track and monitor the status of all issued documentation and support the Quality organization in day-to-day operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential responsibilities of this job include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide distribution of food safety technical documents to customers.
- Ensure that all required technical documents from suppliers are provided.
- Maintain the GS1 entry and communication of items to customers.
- Create and maintain certificates of analysis (COAs) for customers.
- Assist in maintaining quality assurance and food safety program elements and documents.
- Maintain and ensure records for identity preserved foods that includes non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, fair trade, kosher, ethical trade, zero waste, and organic.
- Provide support for external audits and inspections.
- Provide support for GFSI based food safety and quality system.
- Draft product specifications for new items.
- Assist with House of Quality Program for finished goods.
- Assist in the management of the supplier records.
- Manage 3rd party lab analysis of raw materials and finished goods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Experience/Education
- Ability to understand and learn details of food safety and quality and interpret standard operating procedures
- Knowledge of food safety and HACCP is preferred
- Experience with GFSI based audits is preferred
